Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
After four years of severe drought, El NiƱo conditions brought the most rainfall to the region since 2011 with just over 13 inches reported in the city of Paso Robles, about an inch less than the long term average. Weather was good during bloom time and the vines set a moderate crop, though berry size was reduced by hot weather in the early summer. Typical of the region, temperatures fluctuated during the final ripening period with several heat spikes recorded in August and September. While most of the Cabernet Sauvignon in the Paso Robles area was harvested by the end of September, grapes from the cooler Santa Margarita region were harvested 2-3 weeks later, which is typical.
Winemaker Notes
Produced from 40% malbec, 30% merlot, 18% petit verdot, 10% cabernet franc, 2% cabernet sauvignon
