The 2015 vintage of this classic Bordeaux blend is a refined expression of the Paso Robles appellation. The nose offers aromas of blackberry, sage, and fennel, layered with black pepper and smoked brisket. The palate is supple with notes of currant, juicy blackberry, dried cranberry, and clover. Enjoy this Bordeaux blend with steak fajitas or barbeque chicken pizza.
The 2015 vintage marked the fourth year of the California drought. Weather during May flowering was unsettled which led to poor pollination and reduced cluster weights. Harvest began early in the Paso Robles area and the low production—a result of both the ongoing drought and smaller clusters—yielded wines with dark color and concentrated flavors.
Produced from 45% petit verdot, 25% merlot, 23% malbec, and 7% cabernet franc
