2014 Talley Vineyards Edna Valley Pinot Noir

2014 Talley Vineyards Edna Valley Pinot Noir

Beautiful ruby in hue, the 2014 Edna Pinot Noir is a true expression of the Edna Valley. The bouquet offers an aroma of ripe cherry and strawberry, touched by a hint of cedar. The palate features youthful flavors of fresh pomegranate and raspberries and has stunning mid palate concentration that finishes with very elegant tannins. Try pairing the 2014 Edna Pinot Noir with Dijon crusted chicken or a maple glazed pork chop.

Professional Reviews

Vinous, September 2016. Bright ruby. Deep-pitched red and dark berry scents show a vaguely medicinal quality and a hint of smoky minerals. Bitter cherry and raspberry flavors show very good vivacity and spread out and turn sweeter with air. Chewy tannins build steadily on a long, sappy finish that leaves notes of cherry pit and candied rose behind.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The 2014 vintage marked the third year of the California drought. Warm and dry conditions resulted in the earliest harvest start date, August 1, in the history of Talley Vineyards. At 9 inches, total rainfall was less than 50% of the average for Coastal San Luis Obispo County. Ideal growing conditions during bloom time in the spring afforded excellent fruit set with very little mildew or botrytis pressure during the remainder of the season. The wines produced in 2014 share many of the characteristics that made the 2012 and 2013 vintages so appealing: charm, elegance and balance.
