2014 Bishop's Peak Dry Riesling

2014 Bishop's Peak Dry Riesling
The 2014 vintage of Bishop’s Peak Riesling expresses beautiful notes of peach and pear, with a hint of kerosene. This angular wine has bright, gripping acid with soft notes of white flower, tangerine and pithy green apple. Enjoy this wine on a warm summer’s day or with robust Thai food.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The 2014 vintage marked the third year of the California drought. Warm and dry conditions resulted in the earliest harvest start date, August 1, in the history of Talley Vineyards. At 9 inches, total rainfall was less than 50% of the average for Coastal San Luis Obispo County. Ideal growing conditions during bloom time in the spring afforded excellent fruit set with very little mildew or botrytis pressure during the remainder of the season. The wines produced in 2014 share many of the characteristics that made the 2012 and 2013 vintages so appealing: charm, elegance and balance.

Its really a 4.5+, what a great surprise! I always stayed away from Reislings thinking they were sweet, this is not, its delicious, and we loved it. Give it a try. Cheers!

We used to go on weekends to Talley and enjoy a glass of Riesling-- a Sunday ritual we missed when we left the area. Ordered some online to have something reminiscent of home. Opened the first bottle and it smelled good, but tasted almost plasticy and bitter. It's not gone bad, it just wasn't very good. Dumped the first bottle after trying to let it sit, give it some air... even tried the next day. Haven't opened any of the other 5 bottles we've purchased yet. Don't really want to.
