2013 Bishop's Peak Malbec

2013 Bishop's Peak Malbec
Beautiful red-violet in hue, the 2013 Bishop’s Peak Malbec displays aromas of cola and fennel. This medium-bodied wine is bursting with flavors of blackberry and plum. The mid-palate is soft and approachable and leads to a dry finish. Try pairing this malbec with a Manchego cheese plate or barbecue spare ribs.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The 2013 vintage marked the second year of the California drought. Dry conditions in the spring at bloom time afforded excellent fruit set and these ideal growing conditions continued throughout the summer and fall. Harvest was earlier than normal in the greater Paso Robles region, though more typical for the cooler areas where the grapes for this wine were grown. 2013 has been referred to as a “blockbuster vintage” by respected growers, and this vintage of Bishop’s Peak Elevation is reflective of that quality.

Very nice production of a varietal I do not always enjoy. Soft tannins, yet still the fruit and leather you expect from Malbec.

I (we) have been visiting Talley Vineyards since the mid-90's. The attitudes expressed by all members of the organization are exceptional. Camille in the Tasting Room was very attentive and spent time with all my questions. Alyssa & Belinda went out of their way to have everything ready for my 11 AM tasting. I have as a result, added your Monte Sereno Chardonnay to my Spring ordfer of whites. The BP Malbec was very good (actually 4.5 pts) and I purchased two bottles. Tip: open it up earlier than normal, taste and then let it be for 15-20 min and try again. Repeat this at the same intervals 3 or 4 times and you'll experience very pleasant developments. I used to do this when tasting reds with John Wetlauffer (who was married to Helen Turley 25 years ago); it really can make a difference. I will repurchase the wine without question....thanks or all your help. BC

Gave this wine to a friend, she called it her new favorite wine, and joined Talley so she could get more.
