2012 Talley Vineyards Blanc de Noirs
The first commercial release of sparkling wine in the history of Talley Vineyards, the 2012 Blanc De Noirs reflects the potential of the Arroyo Grande Valley to produce world class sparkling wine due to the cool climate and calcareous clay soils of the region. Made in the classic méthode champenoise manner (secondary fermentation in the bottle), the base wine was barrel fermented with native yeasts and aged on the lees for 9 months.

2013 tirage, Disgorged March 2018 with no dose
The 2012 Blanc De Noirs offers aromas of apple skin, bruised pear, and a dash of crème brulee. The palate is marked by a pleasant acidity with notes of lemon tart, yellow apple, and almond paste that lead to a long, bright finish. Enjoy this Blanc De Noirs with oysters on the half shell or prosciutto-wrapped melon.
The 2012 vintage was one of those rare years where both quality and yield were exceptional, probably the best overall since 2005. The growing season was ideal with slightly below average rainfall, moderate canopy growth and very little mildew or botrytis. Due to excellent spring weather, fruit set was ideal. Yields were about 20% above average and the resulting wines are elegant and balanced.
