Dark ruby in color, this blend has savory and spicy aromas of eucalyptus, blueberry, wild sage, and allspice with hints of smoke and beeswax. The mid palate is full bodied with lush flavors of black fruits and spice box. This wine has a big, balanced tannin structure that leads into a long finish making it a nice complement to grilled meats and tomato based Italian dishes.
Though primarily known as a world class growing region for Burgundian varietals, the Edna Valley has also established a reputation for some of California’s most distinctive Rhone wines. The 2007 year began with an unusually cold winter which prolonged dormancy. Bud break was very even and the remainder of the year hosted mild temperatures with one unusual heat spike in September. The yield was slightly below average resulting in grapes with concentrated, intense flavors.
