This syrah has a rich bouquet layered with aromas of black fruit and spice. Notes of mulberry, black cherry, clove, tea leaf, cedar, and hints of vanilla give way to full-bodied and elegant flavors on the palate that are plush in texture and finish with medium tannins. This wines pairs well with braised short ribs.
Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Though primarily known as a world class growing region for Burgundian varietals, the Edna Valley has also established a reputation for some of California’s most distinctive Rhone wines. The 2007 year began with an unusually cold winter which prolonged dormancy. Bud break was very even and the remainder of the year hosted mild temperatures with one unusual heat spike in September. The yield was slightly below average resulting in grapes with concentrated, intense flavors.
