This pinot noir has a rich bouquet layered with dried strawberries and cherries with aromas of rose petals, toasted nuts, and dried sage, with subtle hints of plowed earth. This medium-bodied pinot noir has a plush mouthfeel with concentrated fresh raspberries and cranberries balanced by a fresh acidity characteristic of the Arroyo Grande Valley. This wine pairs well with braised pork shoulder with fennel and olives.

90 Points. Robert Parker, August 2012. The 2010 Pinot Noir Estate wraps around the palate with expansive layers of expressive dark red fruit. Mint, flowers and anise develop in the glass, adding further depth. This is another deep, beautifully nuanced wine, especially for the money. The Estate is a blend of fruit from Rincon and Rosemary’s. Winemaker Eric Johnson used some stems in the Rincon fruit, while the Rosemary’s was fully destemmed. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018.

Heady, exotic bouquet evokes candied red fruits, potpourri and spicecake, with a mineral topnote. Fresh, penetrating raspberry and bitter cherry flavors show impressive clarity and put on weight with air. Fine-grained tannins give shape to the finish, which leaves sweet red berry and rose pastille notes behind. This must be the best version of this bottling I've yet tasted from Talley.

Vineyard Notes

The 2010 year began with average rainfall followed by a very warm spring which enhanced fruit set. The summer and fall months were the coolest on record leading to an exceptionally long growing season. A six day heat spell in mid-September finished the ripening. Yields in the Arroyo Grande Valley were average and the grapes had lower sugar levels and perfectly developed flavors.
