Straw yellow in color, this chardonnay has fresh tropical aromas of pineapple, guava, honeysuckle and shaved coconut. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine has bright flavors of citrus, white flowers and light oak balanced with nice acidity and a long, graceful finish. This well-structured chardonnay pairs well with buttery sautéed scallops or creamy chicken dishes.

Wine Profile
Ratings
88 Points. Vinous, by Antonio Galloni, July 31, 2013. Lemon, butter, spices, apricots, vanillin and spices all wrap around the palate in the 2011 Chardonnay Edna Valley. The use of 20% new French oak barrels adds an attractive sweetness but the cool nature of the year comes through in spades.

91 Points. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. (made entirely from estate-grown fruit in the Oliver's vineyard; 20% new oak): Pale yellow. Musky, perfumed aromas of pear skin, anise, orange pith and white flowers. Supple and broad but surprisingly dry, offering chewy orchard and pit fruit flavors brightened by a bitter citrus pith nuance. Finishes quite long, with very good focus and grip, the orange and anise notes repeating.
Vineyard Notes
The 2011 year began with above average rainfall in Southern San Luis Obispo County. Though we were spared the late spring frost that affected other areas, fruit set was reduced by wet spring conditions and yields were about 30% below average. One of the coolest summers on record resulted in long hang time and grapes with high natural acidity. The resulting wines balance refreshing acidity with concentrated flavors due to the low yields.
