Deep ruby in color, this syrah has spicy and sweet aromas of cranberry and pomegranate with hints of licorice, clove and white pepper. The mid-palate is full bodied and smooth with flavors of dark fruit and dried herbs that finish with soft, elegant tannins. Enjoy this savory wine with grilled sirloin steak or venison.

Wine Profile
91 Points. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Oct/Nov 2013. (aged in 30% new French oak for 21 months):  Inky ruby.  Black and blue fruits on the perfumed nose, with notes of licorice, violet and cracked pepper adding complexity.  Offers spice-driven blackberry and bitter cherry flavors, picking up sweetness and floral pastille nuances with air.  Supple tannins give shape and grip to a long, focused finish that leaves a smoky note on the aftertaste.
Vineyard Notes
The 2010 year began with average rainfall followed by a very warm spring which enhanced fruit set. The summer and fall months were the coolest on record leading to an exceptionally long growing season. A six day heat spell in mid-September finished the ripening. Yields in the Arroyo Grande Valley were average and the grapes had lower sugar levels and perfectly developed flavors.
