2012 Oliver’s Vineyard Chardonnay Magnum
Soft yellow in color, this 2012 vintage of Oliver's Chardonnay expresses beautiful aromas of tropical fruit and lemon blossom, followed by subtle hints of toasty oak. Bright acidity with lively notes of pineapple and tart lemon combine to produce a wine of elegance and freshness. This balanced wine finishes clean and long with a taut acidity. Pair this 2012 Oliver's Chardonnay with herb crusted halibut or snapper in a butter sauce.
The 2012 vintage was one of those rare years where both quality and yield were exceptional, probably the best overall since 2005. The growing season was ideal with slightly below average rainfall, moderate canopy growth and very little mildew or botrytis. Due to excellent spring weather, fruit set was ideal. Yields were about 20% above average and the resulting wines are elegant and balanced.
