This golden yellow colored chardonnay is layered with fruity notes of pineapple and citrus and creamy aromas of vanilla bean and cinnamon.  This fuller bodied wine continues on the palate with rich flavors of crème brulee and caramel balanced by a wet stone minerality and fresh citrus.  This well balanced chardonnay has bright acidity that leads into a clean, long finish. Try pairing this wine with sautéed sea scallops or paella.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
91 Points. Vinous, by Antonio Galloni, July 31, 2013. The2011 Chardonnay Monte Sereno Vineyard is a new wine from Talley. Here it is the wine's voluptuousness that stands out, although the cool growing season tempers those qualities to some extent. Coconut, lychee, mint and sweet spices all flesh out in this soft, inviting Chardonnay. It will be interesting to see how this bottling develops in future vintages. This debut effort certainly bodes well for the future.

91 Points. Steven Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. (no new oak): Light yellow. Mineral-accented aromas of orange, poached pear, ginger and anise, with a leesy undertone. Juicy, penetrating orchard fruit and citrus zest flavors gain flesh and spiciness with air and pick up a hint of sweet butter. Packs a solid punch but shows no excess weight and finishes with very good clarity and mineral-driven persistence.
Vineyard Notes
The 2011 year began with above average rainfall in Southern San Luis Obispo County. Though we were spared the late spring frost that affected other areas, fruit set was reduced by wet spring conditions and yields were about 30% below average. One of the coolest summers on record resulted in long hang time and grapes with high natural acidity. The resulting wines balance refreshing acidity with concentrated flavors due to the low yields.
