Light golden yellow in color, this chardonnay has fresh aromas of white peach, nectarine, and lemon curd with notes of powdered sugar, toast and grilled nut. On the palate, this wine has a creamy texture layered with flavors of pear, wet stone, and vanilla bean that is balanced by a fresh acidity leading into a toasty, elegant finish. This chardonnay pairs well with delicate white fish and shrimp dishes.

Although this isn’t one of their single-vineyard bottlings, it’s a splendid wine, dry, crisp and silky. 90 Points. Robert Parker, August 2012. The entry-level 2010 Chardonnay Estate is a gorgeous wine. Here the fruit shows the slightly richer aromatic and flavor profile of Chardonnay. Pastry, lemon, pears and white flowers are some of the notes that flesh out in the glass. This is another terrific wine for the money. The Estate is mostly Rincon, with a dash of Rosemary’s. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.

92 Points. Stephen Tanzer, Nov/Dec 2012. Pale yellow. Expansive, highly perfumed bouquet of tangerine, honeysuckle and chamomile, with a spicy topnote. Deeply pitched orchard and pit fruit flavors are energized by juicy acidity, with notes of citrus zest and minerals emerging with air. A lively citrus pith note adds definition and a bitter edge to the long, sappy finish.

Connoissuers' Guide, June,2012.Hinting here and there at crème brulée and sweet cream but essentially keyed on well-defined, ripe-apple fruit, this carefully composed wine goes for precision rather that big extract or power and hits the varietal mark smartly. It is rounded in feel, moderately full in body and shows a fine sense of polish from front to back, and, if sure to keep well and perhaps improve for a few years, it is a tasty morsel right now.

Vineyard Notes

The 2010 year began with average rainfall followed by a very warm spring, which enhanced fruit set. The summer and fall months were the coolest on record leading to an exceptionally long growing season. A six day heat spell in mid September finished the ripening. Yields in the Arroyo Grande Valley were average and the grapes had lower sugar levels and perfectly developed flavors.
