This wine has a savory, smoky bouquet layered with dark fruit notes of blueberry, black cherry, and notes of allspice. This full-bodied pinot noir has plush flavors consistent with the aromas, as black fruits are layered with mineral and spice notes. The texture is rich with medium tannins and a long, dusty finish. This lush pinot noir matches well with pork tenderloin and rack of lamb.

92 Points. Robert Parker, August 2012. Talley’s 2010 Pinot Noir Stone Corral Vineyard boasts a deep, serious core of dark cherries, tar and spices. This is an especially large-scaled, broad-shouldered wine from Talley. Layers of fruit build to the extroverted, flashy finish. The richness of the fully destemmed fruit comes through in spades. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.

93 Points. Stephen Tanzer, Nov/Dec 2012. Bright ruby-red. Heady, stunningly aromatic bouquet displays pungent red berries, Indian spices, incense and vanilla. Deep raspberry and cherry vanilla flavors convey an impression of power, with zesty blood orange and rhubarb notes adding bite and focus. Finishes with excellent clarity and cut, leaving a suave spicecake quality behind. Talley told me that the yield from this vineyard in 2010 was only 1.5 tons per acre, "which is too low from a financial standpoint."

Vineyard Notes

The 2010 year began with average rainfall followed by a very warm spring which enhanced fruit set. The summer and fall months were the coolest on record leading to an exceptionally long growing season. A six day heat spell in mid-September finished the ripening. Yields in the Edna Valley were average and the grapes had lower sugar levels and perfectly developed flavors.
