2012 Talley Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir
The 2012 Estate Pinot Noir expresses exceptional aromatic complexity with notes of fresh black cherries and subtle rhubarb, followed by hints of toasted oak and ripe cranberry. This wine has flavors of raspberry, dried thyme, tobacco and finishes with a hint of black pepper. Medium in body, it expresses the savory mineral and earth characteristics of the Arroyo Grande Valley and pairs nicely with pan seared filet mignon or grilled salmon.
The 2012 vintage was one of those rare years where both quality and yield were exceptional, probably the best overall since 2005. The growing season was ideal with slightly below average rainfall, moderate canopy growth and very little mildew or botrytis. Due to excellent spring weather, fruit set was ideal. Yields were about 20% above average and the resulting wines are elegant and balanced.

Enjoyed the 2012 vintage very much. It is an excellent Pinot with a great balance of flavors. It starts with a great fruit forward taste followed by a nice finish. We have tried several of the Pinot. Noir wines since discovering Talley Vineyards on a trip to Paso Robles last year. Highly recommend this wine if you enjoy Pinot!

The first thing you notice is how creamy smooth this is..dare I say Chambolle-Musigny?!? Wonderful fresh crushed fruit(raspberry, cranberry, cherry, rhubarb)….somewhat deep, ripe and spiced…think 09 Chambolle M! As the wine pillows over the palate…it has subtle complexities of sweet earth, cinnamon stick, sassafras, tobacco wrapper…spicy pepper and whole cluster finish. Really tasty, easy drinking with contemplation, little Pinot here!
