Our beautiful winter weather continues. Aside from about 3 inches of much needed rain in January, we’ve had a run of some of the best weather I can remember—sunny days in the low to mid-70s without the coastal fog and afternoon breezes typical of summer. Having said that, it appears that we’re headed into an extended wet period, and we need it. We’re finishing up our pruning operations in the vineyard and expect to see widespread budbreak in the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, it’s bottling season, with the 2010 Estate Pinot Noir, our single vineyard chardonnays and single vineyard pinot noirs all on the schedule this month. Finally, keep an eye out for the release of the 2010 Estate Chardonnay in the next few weeks. I think this is our best to date with citrus and toasty notes in the aroma and a seamless, elegant texture.
