Thanks to all who joined us for the 18th Annual Marianne Talley Memorial Fun Run on Sunday, June 5, 2011. The rain and mud did not stop the day's activities, including an all ages 5K run, a 1-mile youth run and a 1-mile walk.

Marianne Talley was born August 10, 1967. She began participating in competitive swimming at age 8, and was active on the cross-country and swim teams at Arroyo Grande High School. After graduating in 1985, she attended the University of Southern California where she competed on the swim team and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science in 1989. Marianne attended Cal Poly where she earned a Master's Degree in Wellness Management in 1993. She owned and operated her own business as a fitness consultant and personal trainer.
Marianne was an avid athlete who competed in swimming, running, cycling, and triathlon events most of her life. She was a member of the SLO Roadrunners Running and Triathlon Club and completed the Ironman Triathlon in 1992. She died suddenly on May 18, 1993, from complications associated with heart arrhythmia. Many of Marianne's teammates volunteer their time for this Memorial Fun Run and are dedicated to keeping Marianne's ideals alive.
The Marianne Talley Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1993 to fund scholarships for college-bound athletes from Arroyo Grande High School. The Fun Run was established as an annual fundraising event in 1994. The run is dedicated to honoring Marianne's memory and her commitment to health, fitness and exercise.
